The search for a wet-weather shoe that fits our curious adventurer’s orthotics and they won’t refuse to wear has finally come to an end: The See Kai Run Skye Adapt WP Boot is sensory friendly and built specifically to accommodate AFOs, SMOs, and custom insoles. We release the two hook-and-loop straps, hinging them back, to reveal a wide opening that our little can easily slide their AFO-clad foot into. A light, compact workhorse, the Wild Country Ropeman has received a finetuned design, making it smoother than ever. The Ropeman 4 features wide ridges, instead of sharp teeth, to cam our rope, minimizing sheath wear, while the grooved guide pin keeps our rope properly aligned, minimizing drag as we ascend. The introduction of a guide pin makes rigging simpler—the spring-loaded side plate snaps back into place once our rope is loaded, and the large cylinder hole lets us clip and flip our ‘biner fuss free. This do-it-all piece of equipment is barely detectible on our harness yet packs a lot of use—self-belay, rescue, or ascending—making it a staple in our alpine rack.
